Christina Ford, president of The Rebound Foundation, started the foundation to help renew and restore women, who were courageous enough to leave a life of domestic abuse, by providing a stable home where lives can be pieced back together and fresh starts made.
To provide the necessary building blocks for women and children recovering from domestic violence.
The Rebound Foundation, a 501(c) (3) tax exempt nonprofit, is an organization that works to help women and children rebound from domestic violence. Our not-for-profit organizations goal is to give women and children in the Chicago area the opportunity to take full advantage of their second chance by providing transitional housing that will offer peace, education and empowerment to end the recurrence of domestic violence in their lives. Our organization strives to provide education on domestic violence and spread awareness throughout the Nashville and Chicago community.
As a 3rd-generation survivor of domestic abuse, Christina recognized that escaping the cycle of domestic abuse requires much more than temporary, emergency shelters can provide. Her prayer was to open what she hopes is the first of many Marda’s House homes. As a lifelong resident of the Chicago area, Christina had seen the decline of neighborhoods in the Englewood area. Her vision was to renovate a vacant home and to open it to women who needed a safe place in which to heal and to grow. She longed to provide counseling, job skill and financial planning assistance, in order to remove these families from the cycle of abuse and set them up to succeed on their own. It was a restoration project that would go far beyond bricks and mortar.
